40k: Alpha

How the Alpha Legion are represented as models has always bothered me, portraying them as fully fledged 'Spiky Marines' just feels wrong given their propensity for subterfuge.  Granted it makes complete sense that some would be like that (what with all the old legions being so scattered and divergent after 10,000 years) but I like to think that many would attempt to look as unassuming as possible even when in full combat gear (the glowing eyes are entirely artistic licence here).  Although I didn't put any on there many would probably still be bearing Imperial iconography, whether it would be out of allegiance or just to confuse would be up for debate.

I guess that's the fun of the Alpha Legion, since there's very few hard facts about them post-heresy, whatever interpretation you have of them can be entirely valid.

Anyway, been chipping away at this picture for around a year... mostly because I tend to lose all motivation when I actually have to draw a background, despite a handful of minor issues I'm still pretty happy with the end result, not to mention grateful I've finally finished the damn thing.
