Fallen Inquisitor by wibblethefish Fallen Inquisitor by wibblethefish
Some of you may remember a picture I drew a little while ago of a Khornate guardsman who was a counts-as Marbo for my fledgling renegade guard. Though that army is largely postponed I have been painting the odd guy here and there. This was the latest completed mini who's supposed to be a fallen inquisitor who would count as 'Iron hand' Straken in game.

The idea came about because, looking at Straken's profile, it's closer to an un-augmented human in power armour than a guardsman. I didn't want him to resemble a marine (just a human in unique power armour) so I didn't use the backpack, helmet or pauldrons from astartes armour as to avoid the most recognisable parts. I also decided to make one arm un-armoured because it would not only reference the Kharn the Betrayer model (and indeed the reeeeaaaally old Berzerker models) but emphasize the armoured arm to indicate he's a stand in for 'Iron Hand' Straken.

I was quite happy with the paint job, and even happier that I finally figured out how to get a decent picture of it (even if it shows up numerous flaws I hadn't noticed in person).

Now to get back to my backlog of messages... maybe after that I might even find time to do some art... stranger things have happened...

Heh, you're welcome to use him... he doesn't have a name as of yet, maybe I'll just look up 'grumpy face' in latin and go with that.

That's... really quite interesting. Also, well thought-out. Is the bolter standard, or a kitbash? Looks like the rear half of a lasgun...

Half a lasgun, half a bolter.

It's supposed to represent a shotgun, since I didn't have one to use. In hindsight i should have made it double barreled to not resemble a bolter so much. Live and learn i guess...

Yyyeah, the fact that I thought of it as a modded bolter first means it's not shotgun-y enough.

Funny, though, I kept wondering to myself if Straken didn't happen to use a shotgun.

I think the trick is to break it down into manageable chunks, not that i follow my own advice.

Thanks, yeah it's a shotgun... well actually it's a chopped up bolter and lasgun but it represents a shotgun :)

Aaah yes now I can see it. I could see the lasgun and was wondering why it's so bulky. Adding bolter parts explains that though ;)

a nice use of bits, the model looks well balanced, the only part that jars on me a lil is the orky lookin shoulder pad

Thanks, well I wanted something that looked absolutely nothing like a marine shoulderpad, so an Ork one fit the bill nicely to me at least.

Sweet conversion dude :D

I can only say its weird to see him pinting to the sky. I more level or slightly down aim of the gun and face could have made this model perfect. But thats just my opinion.

Thanks.

Yeah the arm position is a little weird, I'd already glued and green-stuffed the arm before the hand and gun was attached and so was sort of beyond the point of no return when i realised bending the wrist down looked really awkward. This was as natural looking a pose as I could manage.
